Films that defined the stature of legendary director Satyajit Ray
If we talk about cinema, the discussion will remain incomplete unless you mention the name of legendary director Satyajit Ray. Ray’s works always came with a new lessons for aspiring filmmakers. He made 36 movies in a career spanning 37 years. There are very few actors in Bollywood, who are identified not by their names but by their good work. 1. Apu Trilogy: The film was made in three parts. The first part was Patthar Panchali, the second part Aparajito and the third part was The World of Apu. The three parts of the film were well received throughout the country. The film also opened the doors to the international arts sector for Indian cinema.
2. Mahanagar: In this film, Satyajit Ray beautifully depicts how difficult it is for people living in big cities to live. Also, this film also tells how the women living in the big city are able to work in the office as well as do the housework very easily.
3. Charulata: The film is considered to be ahead of its time. The film explains the woman’s adultery and loneliness very easily. The film depicts a woman’s loneliness. The story of the film is that a woman falls in love with her mentor and the mentor is her husband’s cousin.
4. Shatranj Ke Khiladi: The film was the only film of Satyajit da made in the Hindi language. The story of the film was filmed on the last Mughal of Awadh, Wajid Ali Shah, and the fall of his rule. The center of the film was kept light-hearted, not sensitive. The film tells the story of his ministers, who insist on playing chess, and they keep looking for safe places to play it happily. The film featured the lead characters Amjad Khan, Sanjeev Kumar, and Saheed Jaffrey.
5. Jalsaghar: It is based on the novel of the same name by Tarashankar Bandhopadhyay and is based on a detailed dramatic study of the last days of the zamindar (the semi-feudal landlord of Bengal).

6. Devi: The story focuses on blind religious beliefs and idol worship in society. In the film, people of the village start believing that Sharmila Tagore is an avatar of a Goddess.
7. Nayak: The film tells about an actor remembering his past during an Interview on a long-distance train journey. Uttam Kumar and Satyajit Ray’s combination come together for the first time in the film.
8. Pratidwandi: This film tries to explore Naxalism in the mid-70s in Calcutta, and the uprising of CPML under Charu Majumdar.
9. Ghare Baire: It is a 1984 Indian Bengali romantic drama film by director Satyajit Ray, based upon the 1916 novel Ghare Baire by Rabindranath Tagore. This film showcases the contrast between patriotism and nationalism.
10. Hirak Rajar Deshe: It is a satire on Indira Gandhi’s emergency rule on the country during the mid-70s which makes the film a real pleasure.
