Red Fort Bomber Umar Nabi Talks Of Suicide Attack, Calls It A Martyrdom Operation
New video of Red Fort bomber Umar Nabi shows him defending suicide attacks as “martyrdom operations,” exposing his mindset and key probe findings.
Red Fort Bomber Umar Nabi Talks Of Suicide Attack And Claims It As A Martyrdom Operation In Newly Surfaced Video
Nearly a week after the devastating explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort that claimed 13 lives, investigators have uncovered a troubling video recorded by the prime accused, Dr Umar-un-Nabi. The footage, captured nearly two months before the blast, shows him attempting to justify suicide attacks by reframing them as “martyrdom operations.” Authorities say the clip reveals not only his radicalisation but also his struggle to persuade his own module members to support a suicide bombing plan.

Umar Nabi’s Attempt To Rebrand Suicide Attacks
In the surfaced recording, the doctor-turned-militant begins by insisting that the public misunderstands what he calls the “real concept” behind suicide bombings. He argues that such acts should not be labelled as suicide at all, but rather as martyrdom missions within his interpretation of Islamic ideology.
A Flawed Justification
Nabi claims that the practice is rooted in long-standing debates and that criticisms are based on misinterpretations. He states that these operations involve a person knowingly embracing death at a predetermined place and time—rejecting the uncertainty that naturally accompanies human mortality. However, police officials say that despite his elaborate explanations, the recorded arguments fail to provide any coherent or compelling justification.
Investigators Note Rehearsed Arguments
Investigative sources believe the video is one of several “practice tapes” Nabi recorded while trying to shape a narrative that could convince others in the module. Officers revealed that members of his own group rejected the Fidayeen-style suicide mission. One operative, identified as Danish, even backed out after refusing to participate in a plan he did not believe in.
Contradictions in His Claims
In the clip, Nabi also insists that people fail to understand the so-called “Liberia bombing concept,” arguing that suicide operations cannot be democratic or accepted in civilised societies. Despite making this admission himself, he simultaneously tries to validate such acts through religious framing—an inconsistency that officials say highlights his confused reasoning.
The Dangerous Psychology Behind Such Missions
Nabi goes on to claim that the core mindset behind suicide attacks stems from accepting death as inevitable once a mission is adopted. According to him, individuals begin to believe that death has a fixed time and place, creating a dangerous psychological shift.
Investigators Disagree With His Interpretation
Authorities point out that this fatalistic belief system is exactly what makes such operations unacceptable, not only in democratic nations but in any society that values human life. His own statements contradict the principles of freedom and morality, further reinforcing that these ideas cannot coexist with civilised frameworks.

How Investigators Tracked Down Umar Nabi
Following the Red Fort blast, forensic evidence and CCTV trails quickly led the agencies to Nabi. His movements matched those of the bomber, and electronic surveillance confirmed that he drove an i20 near the site minutes before the explosion. Material recovered afterward directly linked him to the attack plan, establishing him as a key operative behind the deadly blast.
A Chilling Insight Into Radicalisation
The recovered videos offer a disturbing view into the thought process of someone attempting to normalise violent extremism. Investigators believe the recordings were meant to persuade others—but instead, they expose the distorted ideology behind the Red Fort attack.
