Ranthambore Mourns a Wildlife Legend as Fearless Tigress Arrowhead Dies Shortly After Her Daughter’s Shift
The wilderness of Ranthambore National Park remained quiet as it laid to rest one of the most majestic creatures one could think of, Tigress Arrowhead (T-84), who passed away at the age of 14. A true symbol of power, survival, and royalty, Arrowhead’s death was reported to have occurred just hours after forest officials relocated her daughter Kankati to Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve on account of a few human kill reports against the latter.
Arrowhead was an exalted granddaughter of the famous Machhli and daughter to Tigress Krishna. The name hardly did justice for her: she was the undisputed queen in Rajbagh territory, which she ruled with grace and fierceness. Forest authorities confirmed her death due to bone cancer, a malady she had been battling for some time. The final blow struck and so brought forth an emotional end of a legacy nurtured over the years in Ranthambore.

Wildlife lovers and conservationists took to social media in sorrow: Fare thee well, Arrowhead; Did not go gentle into that good night. These heartfelt tributes speak for a legion of admirers who followed Arrowhead’s path through the wild, often via viral videos or during guided safaris.
One such event strengthening her legendary status was recorded two days prior to her death. An unbelievable display of might and predatory instincts: Arrowhead was filmed taking down a crocodile near Padam Talab just two days before her death. Witnesses said she blended into her environment before exploding to the attack. Lasting less than one minute, the fight only reaffirmed the wild spirit that Arrowhead possessed, fiercely attacking even in her weakened condition.
The official Ranthambore social media account had stated, “With a heavy heart, we share the heartbreaking news from Ranthambore. Tigress Arrowhead (T-84), the pride of our forest, has passed away. She was more than just a tigress; she was a symbol of grace, strength, and motherly spirit. Her legacy shall continue through her cubs and in the hearts of all wildlife lovers.”

Arrowhead’s death presents not just a biological loss but also an emotional loss for Ranthambore National Park, which housed Arrowhead with awe and respect for countless visitors. Members of the Ranthambore Nature Guide Association congregated to pay floral tribute while sharing nostalgic memories of her brave rule. “Arrowhead carried forward the legacy of Machhli, both in spirit and strength,” remarked senior guide Shakir Ali.
Thus, her demise, coming as it did after that of her daughter, became symbolic-a closure of sorts for an iconic lineage which had for years forged the wild narrative of Ranthambore. Arrowhead’s saga shall inspire generations even as the sun sets on the Rajbagh meadows that once flourished underneath her reign.
She’d vanished; but her roar reverberated across the heart of Ranthambore, forever.
