Punjab News: Negligence Allegations Soar as 74 Kids Hospitalized, CM Mann Demands Swift Probe and Justice

Punjab News the recent incident in Sangrur district has deeply shaken the community as 74 children fell seriously ill after consuming contaminated food at a government school. The affected students, exhibiting symptoms like foaming at the mouth, stomach ache, and vomiting, were promptly admitted to Civil Hospital and PGI Sangrur.

Distraught parents are pointing fingers at the school management and the mess contractor, accusing them of negligence. They are rightfully demanding strict action against those responsible for the incident. The gravity of the situation became evident as 18 children were admitted to Civil Hospital on Friday night, with 14 of them being discharged after receiving initial aid. Unfortunately, four children remain in critical condition. The following day, 36 more children from the same school were admitted to Civil Hospital, and an additional 20 were taken to PGI Sangrur.

Children, expressing their ordeal, shared that they had been served poor-quality food since Diwali, and their complaints about the food quality, including the presence of insects, were disregarded by the management and the contractor. This negligence has left parents anguished and angered about the well-being of their children.

CM Orders Probe: FIR Against Contractor

In response to the distressing situation, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has ordered an immediate investigation. An FIR has been registered against the contractor, and a dedicated team led by SDM Sangrur has been formed to submit a comprehensive report within a week. Deputy Commissioner Jatinder Jorwal assured the public that the investigation team comprises individuals from various relevant departments, including the police, medical, and education sectors.

Efforts have been made to address the immediate health concerns of the children. The contaminated food has been removed from the school premises, and the state government has taken measures to ensure proper treatment for the affected children. The community now awaits the findings of the investigation, hoping for accountability and justice for the affected children and their families.
