BSF: Pakistan Reactivates 72 Terror Launchpads Along Jammu Border After Operation Sindoor
Pakistan Reactivates 72 Terror Launchpads Along Jammu Border After Operation Sindoor
BSF Ready to Act Again Following Operation Sindoor If Government Orders Resumption
Launchpads Shifted to Depth Areas
“After the BSF destroyed many terror launchpads along the border during Operation Sindoor, the Pakistan government shifted all such facilities to the depth areas,” said BSF DIG Vikram Kunwar.
- 12 launchpads are active in the depth areas of Sialkot and Zaffarwal, slightly away from the border.
- 60 launchpads operate in other depth areas further inland.
DIG Kunwar emphasized that the figures of these launchpads and the terrorists present in them are dynamic, as they are only active when terrorists are being pushed into India. Currently, there are no terrorist training camps close to the International Border.
Mixed Terrorist Groups and Training
Earlier, terror groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba had separate zones for operations. After Operation Sindoor, Pakistan reportedly formed mixed groups, allowing terrorists from different organisations to train together before moving to other locations.
“These launchpads are generally active for deployment purposes and do not house permanent training camps,” DIG Kunwar added.
BSF Prepared for Action
IG Shashank Anand, Jammu Frontier, stated that the BSF is fully prepared to follow government orders if Operation Sindoor is resumed.
He noted, “If we get a chance, we are capable of causing more damage than what we did in May. Whatever policy the government decides, the BSF will play its role in it.”
Reflecting on past conflicts such as the 1965 and 1971 wars, the 1999 Kargil War, and Operation Sindoor, IG Anand highlighted the BSF’s experience in both conventional and hybrid warfare.

Current Border Situation
Regarding the retreat of Pakistani Rangers during Operation Sindoor, the IG said that once normalcy returns, all forces are expected to return to their posts.
“It took them a lot of time to recover from the damages inflicted by the BSF. Some locations have been reinforced, but all activities remain under our surveillance,” he said.
At present, BSF officials report no significant terrorist movement along the border that could raise an alarm. The force is monitoring the evolving situation and is ready to act when required.
