Nitish 10.0: First Look at Bihar Cabinet Formation as BJP Secures Major Posts in New NDA Government
Nitish 10.0 Sworn in as Bihar Chief Minister
Nitish Kumar has officially entered his tenth term as the chief minister of Bihar, marking a historic milestone in the state’s political landscape. The NDA, which secured a commanding 202 out of 243 seats in the assembly, is set to form its new cabinet based on a carefully crafted power-sharing formula. Nitish 10.0 is positioned as a term focused on stability, continuity, and broader representation for alliance partners.
Cabinet Allocation Under NDA Power-Sharing Formula
As per the agreed formula, the BJP receives 17 ministerial berths along with the crucial Speaker’s post, likely going to Prem Kumar. The JD(U) secures 15 ministerial seats including Nitish Kumar as CM. LJP (Ram Vilas) has been allotted two berths, while HAM (Secular) and RLM will each have one. This distribution mirrors the assembly strength of each partner, where JD(U) and BJP remain the major pillars of the new cabinet arrangement.
BJP Ministers Include a Mix of New and Veteran Leaders
The BJP is preparing to include both fresh faces and its trusted senior leaders. While prominent figures such as Samrat Chaudhary, Vijay Sinha, Mangal Pandey, and Nitin Naveen remain in place, several new leaders are set to be inducted. Ramkripal Yadav from Danapur and Shreyasi Singh from Jamui have received invitations to join the cabinet. First-time MLA Rama Nishad from Aurai will also be sworn in, reflecting BJP’s efforts to reward emerging talent and grassroots dedication.
JD(U) Retains Influence With Expanded Representation
JD(U) leaders have expressed satisfaction with their increased share of 15 berths, up from 12 in the previous term. The party cited its stronger performance compared to 2020 as justification for a bigger presence. So far, Lacy Singh, Shravan Kumar, Vijay Chaudhary, Vijendra Yadav, and Madan Sahni have been called to join the Nitish 10.0 cabinet, ensuring continuity in administrative experience.
Negotiations and Representation for Smaller NDA Partners
Smaller alliance partners engaged in intense negotiations for meaningful cabinet roles. The final arrangement assigns LJP (RV) two berths, HAM (Secular) one, and RLM one ministerial slot. This inclusive structure aims to reflect the collective mandate of the NDA and maintain political cohesion. All partners have been accommodated proportionately based on their electoral strength.
Key Leaders and Swearing-In Ceremony Details
The swearing-in ceremony for Nitish 10.0 at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan is expected to witness the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Confirmed cabinet members include Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha, Vijendra Prasad Yadav, Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Ram Kripal Yadav, Mangal Pandey, Nitin Naveen, Santosh Manjhi, along with Snehlata Kushwaha or Deepak Kushwaha from the Kushwaha family.
Bihar Cabinet 2025: What Lies Ahead
The newly formed Bihar Cabinet aims to deliver a balanced, development-oriented governance structure. With a blend of experienced administrators and new entrants, Nitish 10.0 seeks to focus on economic growth, social welfare, and administrative efficiency. The NDA’s calibrated power-sharing formula underscores its intent to maintain unity and deliver stable governance over the next five years.
