Maharashtra: Bangladeshi Arrested for Harassing Vistara Crew

A Bangladeshi man was arrested in Maharashtra, Mumbai for sexually harassing a flight attendant on a Vistara flight from Muscat to Dhaka via Mumbai. He defied the captain's warning and was remanded in custody. Vistara followed strict procedures, involving security agencies and local authorities, in handling the incident.

Bangladeshi Arrested for Sexually Harassing Vistara Cabin Crew in Maharashtra, Prompt Action Taken


Maharashtra In Mumbai, a Bangladeshi national, identified as Mohammed Dulal, was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a female flight attendant on a Muscat-Dhaka flight via Mumbai, according to a police official on Friday (September 8). The incident took place shortly before the scheduled landing of the Vistara flight at Mumbai International Airport on Thursday. Dulal had boarded the flight in Muscat and was en route to Dhaka via Mumbai.

Half an hour before landing, Dulal left his seat, hugged a female flight attendant, attempted to kiss her, and exposed himself to other cabin crew members and passengers who intervened. Despite receiving a red warning card from the flight captain declaring him an unruly passenger, Dulal did not comply. Upon landing in Mumbai, he was handed over to security officers and subsequently taken to Sahar police station. An FIR was filed against Dulal based on the flight attendant’s complaint, and he was arrested. He appeared in a local court and was remanded in police custody until Friday.

Vistara issues statement

According to a statement issued by a Vistara spokesperson, an incident involving an unruly passenger occurred on Vistara flight UK 234, which was operating from Muscat to Mumbai on September 6. Due to the severe misconduct, the flight’s captain issued a warning letter and decided to restrain the passenger.

Following our strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines, the airport’s security agencies were promptly informed to take necessary action upon arrival. The passenger has been detained for further investigation by the security agency at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The incident has also been reported to local authorities in accordance with our SOPs, the statement clarified.
