Mann Ki Baat: 10 Biggest Learnings From Our PM

Celebrating 100 episodes of Mann Ki Baat in April 2023


A brainchild of Prime Minister Modi, the first episode of Mann Ki Baat was aired on 3rd October 2014. 

“Mann ki Baat” is a popular radio program hosted by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, where he addresses the nation on various issues. Over the years, the program has gained immense popularity due to its interactive nature, where citizens can share their ideas, suggestions, and feedback with the PM. The program touches upon a wide range of topics, including social issues, politics, and cultural events. Its popularity has made it a significant tool for engaging with the public and spreading awareness about various initiatives undertaken by the government.

The 99th Episode will air on Sunday, 26th March. 

As the show will complete its 100 Episodes on 30th April 2023, we take a quick look at the ten biggest learnings we received from the show. 

  1. The very first episode, aired on October 3, 2014, was iconic as it set the base for the show’s future, and PM Modi introduced the program and talked about the importance of people’s participation in the governance process. He urged the people to share their thoughts and ideas on various issues.
  2. The show helped make people aware of the latest happenings in the country and learn more about the actions of the Government as well as how they could contribute to the betterment of society. 
  3. As said by PM Modi, “Democracy is about people’s participation, and its true essence lies in Jan Bhagidari. Government and people must together work and script a roadmap for a New India.” The show helped unite people and ensure their participation for the betterment of the country. 
  4. It also helped bring the selfless activities of people into the limelight and celebrate their efforts. 
  5. One of the biggest learnings from the episodes was that of conservation and sustainability. PM Modi talked about the significance of water conservation and urged people to adopt water-efficient practices in their daily lives. It pushed us to conserve natural resources and adopt sustainable practices to ensure their availability for future generations.
  6. In the episodes, PM Modi also promoted a healthy lifestyle. He highlighted the significance of yoga and how it can help promote a healthy lifestyle. It helped spread the message that yoga is not just a physical exercise but a way of life that can bring peace, harmony, and balance to our lives.
  7. He promoted the growth of khadi products and products made in India. Through these episodes, PM Modi encouraged people to use products made in India and products made manually. 
  8. Appreciation of women was also an important theme of these episodes. The Prime Minister praised Indian women who have demonstrated excellence in sports.
  9. India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has made it a priority to focus on the significance of innovation and technology for the country’s development. He has emphasized the importance of embracing and adapting to new technologies and ideas such as digital payment systems, blockchain technology, and artificial intelligence to promote progress and innovation in various sectors.
  10. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, which is a national cleanliness drive aimed at making India a cleaner and healthier country, has been a frequent topic of discussion in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speeches on “Mann Ki Baat.” Modi has stressed the importance of citizens taking responsibility for maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings and participating in the movement. He has encouraged people to take the initiative to clean up their local areas, including streets, public places, and their own homes, and has also highlighted the significance of proper waste management such as segregating and recycling waste, to promote a clean and healthy environment.

AIR Announces Campaign 

To honor the 100 episodes of the show, a campaign was announced by All India Radio (AIR). 

“The campaign will bring out 100 identified themes highlighted by the PM Modi in Mann Ki Baat episodes till date. The relevant sound bytes of the Prime Minister from each episode of Mann ki Baat shall be broadcast in all bulletins and other programs across AIR Network. The campaign shall be on-Air from March 15 and will conclude on April 29.”
