Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath introduced Krishak Nyay Yojana to attract votes in the upcoming Assembly polls

Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath on Wednesday introduced a 5-factor ‘Krishak Nyay Yojana,’ to be introduced by his party if it wins the Assembly elections later this year, saying it’s going to provide power and waiver of farm loans.

At a Press conference in the state capital Bhopal, Kamal Nath said the scheme implemented by the Congress for farmers will decrease the input price. “We waived the rural loans of 27 lakh farmers within the first phase (while Congress came to power after the 2018 polls) .

Nath listed waiver of payments for 5 horsepower pumps used for irrigation, waiver of electricity bill, loan waiver, withdrawal of cases registered against the farmers regarding protest against BJP and uninterrupted energy supply for 12 hours. This scheme will be retained,” Nath told the news reporters.

Kamal Nath accused the Shivraj Singh Chouhan authorities of harassing farmers, stating that the authorities couldn’t ensure fertilizer or seeds when the farmers needed them maximum. “And whilst the crop is ready, the farmer does no longer get the right minimum guide rate to sell it,” he stated.

The Congress leader continued: “CM Chouhan made a false announcement in front of the PM at the Rewa programme that farm income has more than doubled in MP, but the truth is that the income of farmers in MP has reduced.”

He stated Madhya Pradesh is one of the four states wherein farmers’ earnings got down. Nath said it dropped to ₹8,339, from ₹9,740 in line with the month in 2015-16. But the state authorities continued to be insensitive as ever, he stated, recalling times in which the cattle of farmers had been seized .

Asked how he will mobilize resources to fund the party’s schemes, the Congress leader said the party’s commitment to the welfare of farmers was firm and it will find the resources.
