Indian Army Opens Fire After Pakistani Drones Sighted Along LoC in J&K

Indian Army opens fire after Pakistani drones were sighted along the LoC in J&K, triggering counter-drone action and large-scale search operations.

Indian Army Opens Fire After Pakistani Drones Spotted Along LoC in J&K, Counter-Drone Measures Activated

Heightened tensions were reported along the Line of Control and the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir after security forces opened fire and activated counter-drone systems following the sighting of multiple suspected Pakistani drones. The incident, which unfolded on Sunday evening, prompted immediate defensive action and extensive search operations across several border districts.

According to defence officials, the Indian Army responded swiftly after detecting drone-like objects entering Indian airspace from across the border. The sightings raised serious security concerns, especially amid ongoing intelligence alerts about infiltration attempts in the region.

Multiple Drone Sightings Across Border Districts

The first suspected drone was observed at approximately 6:25 pm, moving from Tain towards Topa in the Mankote sector of Poonch district. Shortly afterward, another drone-like object was seen around 6:35 pm in Khabbar village in the Teryath area of Rajouri district. Officials also reported a blinking light moving from Dharmsal village in Kalakote towards Bharakh, suggesting coordinated activity.

Later in the evening, around 7:15 pm, a third drone-like object with a blinking light was spotted hovering briefly over Chak Babral village in the Ramgarh sector of Samba district, close to the International Border.

These repeated sightings across multiple locations intensified concerns that the drones were being used either for surveillance or as part of a potential infiltration attempt.

Counter-Drone Measures Activated

Following the sightings, the Indian Army opened fire and deployed Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (Counter-UAS) measures to neutralize the threat. Defence sources stated that after the counter-drone systems were activated, the suspected drones were seen retreating back towards the other side of the border.

Security forces immediately launched search operations in all affected areas to check for any dropped payloads, weapons, or communication devices. Officials confirmed that ground searches are ongoing and surveillance has been intensified along vulnerable stretches of the border.

Massive Search Operation Near International Border

Earlier in the day, security agencies had already launched a large-scale search operation in the Kanachak area, located close to the International Border on the outskirts of Jammu. The operation was triggered after intelligence agencies intercepted satellite phone communications believed to be linked to suspected terrorists.

According to officials, the intercepted communication was traced to a satellite device, raising fears of active terrorist presence near the border. Kanachak has historically been used as an infiltration route, making the intelligence input particularly concerning.

Joint Forces on High Alert

The search operation in Kanachak involved multiple security agencies, including the Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Border Security Force, the Central Reserve Police Force, and the Indian Army. The entire area was cordoned off, with troops conducting door-to-door searches and combing nearby fields, forests, and high-altitude regions.

Authorities believe that nearly three dozen terrorists may be active across different parts of Jammu, prompting intensified surveillance and coordinated counterterror operations across the region.

Rising Concerns Over Drone-Based Threats

The use of drones along the LoC in J&K has emerged as a significant security challenge in recent years. Drones have increasingly been used for cross-border surveillance, smuggling of arms and narcotics, and reconnaissance ahead of infiltration attempts.

Security experts note that blinking lights and hovering behavior are common indicators of reconnaissance drones attempting to map troop movements or identify safe drop zones. The rapid response by Indian forces is seen as crucial in preventing potential escalation.

Security Situation Remains Tense

Officials emphasized that there was no immediate threat to civilians but urged residents in border areas to remain vigilant and cooperate with security personnel. Additional troops have been deployed in sensitive zones, and night surveillance has been strengthened.

The situation along the LoC and International Border remains tense, with forces maintaining a high level of readiness to counter any further attempts at aerial intrusion or infiltration.

Conclusion

The latest incident underscores the evolving nature of border security challenges, particularly the growing use of drones in cross-border activities. As the Indian Army opens fire and strengthens counter-drone capabilities, security agencies remain focused on preventing any breach of national security.

Search operations are ongoing, and authorities have assured that all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard the region. Further updates are expected as investigations continue and surveillance operations progress.
