The Gyanvapi Survey, led by a team of 30 members from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) commenced. Gyanvapi Survey begins in Varanasi to determine whether it was built over an ancient Hindu temple. However, the survey was halted for two days by order of a Chief Justice of India-led Supreme Court bench. The court directed that the survey could resume after 5 pm on Wednesday, with a strict prohibition on any excavation or invasive work on the mosque premises.

Survey Amid Controversy:

Four women litigants and four Hindu lawyers joined the ASI team during the survey. Strict security measures were implemented with a 2-km vehicle entry restriction. The mosque management boycotted the survey, and the Muslim side petitioned against the Allahabad High Court’s decision on Hindu women’s worship.
