The phrase Modi-Shah playbook generally evokes centralised decision-making, disciplined organisation, data-driven election planning, booth-level mobilisation and carefully selected leaders for critical assignments.

Nabin’s current approach shows several similarities. His consultations with UP leaders and allies, emphasis on grassroots engagement and the appointment of experienced election managers all point towards an organisation-first strategy.

Yet there is an important difference. Nabin is operating in a BJP that has already developed a highly sophisticated national election machine. His challenge may therefore be less about creating a new model and more about adapting an established model for the post-2024 political environment.

The 2027 Test For BJP

The Uttar Pradesh contest will ultimately determine whether these organisational changes translate into electoral gains. The BJP has already begun discussions with NDA partners, including efforts to improve coordination and address demands related to seat-sharing and community-specific concerns.
