Delhi court allows Manish Sisodia, AAP leader, a brief visit with his ailing wife; Conditions include no media interaction and political activities during the encounter amid ongoing legal proceedings.

Delhi Court Grants Manish Sisodia Restricted Meeting; Restricts Media and Political Engagement

In a recent turn of events, a Delhi court granted Sisodia, currently in Tihar Jail, a chance to meet his wife from 10 am to 5 pm, with security measures in place. However, the court has restricted him from interacting with the media or engaging in political activities during this time. Earlier, Manish Sisodia had sought permission for a five-day visit to be with his wife, who, as per the application, experienced a severe episode of multiple sclerosis on April 25 and has been dealing with psychological issues. The court acknowledged that records already indicated his wife’s 20-year battle with multiple sclerosis.

Sisodia’s Family and Shared Residence

A prominent AAP leader, Sisodia served as the deputy chief minister and held various portfolios, including the Excise Department, in the Arvind Kejriwal government before being arrested by the CBI in February. Despite resigning from his position, his family continued to reside in his former official residence on Mathura Road, sharing it with Education Minister Atishi.

The controversy surrounds the Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-22, accused of fostering cartelisation and favouring certain liquor traders allegedly involved in bribery, a claim consistently denied by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). After the policy was annulled, the Delhi lieutenant governor recommended a CBI probe, leading to the ED registering a case under the PMLA.
