Delhi Airport: Vigilant CISF Staff Rescues Trafficking Victims and Nabs Culprits in a Daring Operation at Indira Gandhi International Airport

In a commendable display of vigilance and determination, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi successfully thwarted a potential human trafficking operation on Wednesday. The heroes of Terminal 3 not only rescued potential victims but also apprehended the culprits involved in the sinister plot. The incident unfolded at approximately 1:15 pm when CISF staff observed suspicious activities around a passenger named Diljot Singh in the check-in area near departure gate number 5. Singh, who was scheduled to travel from Delhi Airport to Birmingham on an Air India flight, raised alarms when he failed to board the flight after completing check-in formalities.

Upon diverting Singh to a random checking point, CISF personnel found no suspicious items in his baggage. However, Singh’s inability to provide a satisfactory explanation for not boarding the flight triggered further investigation. The meticulous tracking of his movements through CCTV footage revealed that Singh had not returned to the immigration counter after completing check-in formalities.

Subsequent investigation uncovered a disturbing chain of events. Singh had approached the F-11 check-in counter, where Air India staff member Rohan Verma, a customer service associate (CSA), processed his check-in using forged documents. Verma admitted to facilitating check-in for Singh and two other passengers using fraudulent documents in exchange for Rs 80,000.

Further revelations unfolded as Verma pointed to his colleague, Mohammad Jahangir, a CSA at Air India SATS, as the instigator of this illicit operation. Jahangir admitted to directing Verma to complete the check-in formalities for passengers using forged documents in exchange for Rs 40,000 per passenger. Two additional AISATS staff members, Yash and Akshay Narang, confessed to their involvement in the trafficking scheme.

The gravity of the situation became apparent as it was revealed that two passengers had already travelled abroad using fake documents. Efforts are underway to bring them back and ensure justice is served.

The CISF promptly handed over the suspects to the Delhi Police, who have registered an FIR in connection with the case. The unfolding events underscore the critical role played by airport security personnel in safeguarding the well-being of passengers and preventing criminal activities such as human trafficking.

Meanwhile, Air India has yet to respond to the matter, leaving questions lingering about the airline’s awareness and involvement in the illicit activities uncovered by the vigilant CISF staff at Delhi Airport.
