BSF Jawan Roasts Papad in Bikaner’s Scorching Sand, Highlighting North India’s Extreme Heatwave and Challenging Conditions for Troopers

Recently going viral is a clip of a finicky BSF jawan toasting ‘papad’ over searing sand of Bikaner, Rajasthan. This particular demonstration vividly captures the current scorching heat conditions that have befallen North India, with temperatures crossing the 47 degrees Celsius mark in some locations. India Meteorological Department has declared Red for the Northwest Plains such as Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, part of Rajasthan and Maharastra due to severe heat wave till 25 May.

In the video, which was posted by the Border Security Forces, the celebratory soldier dons mask, cap, sunglasses and cover his face with a cloth as he basks in the hot desert sand to fry a ‘papad’. The glowing video, lasting for 48 seconds, depicts him putting the ‘papad’ into hot sand and after sometime, pulling it out, cracking it and informing his viewers that it has been roasted well. This simple act demonstrates how hot it is in Bikaner whereby the temperature can rise up to 45 degrees Celsius.

The video soon circulated on social media, causing a flurry of comments from social media users. One user on X (formerly Twitter) shared the video with the caption: An extreme heat state: Bikaner, Rajasthan records 47°C. Even the sand across the International Border can be as hot as a griddle, our troopers fighting for the motherland bold. ” Another post praised the jawans, saying: Let me take salute of our jawans. BSF Jawan boiling a papad in sand at Bikaner, Rajasthan along International Border serving motherland in such scorching heat. ”

In response to the comments, the effectiveness of the BSF during the operation in the sparsely populated region of Rajasthan’s west is underscored, which includes Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Barmer. FG: One user said this: “The western frontier of Rajasthan comprising Ganganagar Bikaner Jaisalmer and Barmer is among the hottest and difficult region defended by the BSF. There are many unpleasant things in the picture: the weather and isolated territory are too severe. It is the ever-vigilant watchdog of the desert and more popularly known as the BSF. Looking at the comments, one comment had this to say: “Jawan’s life is too hard, salute to these people who stand in such conditions.

This viral video not only presents the extreme weather, but also shares honours and skills of BSF jawans who work in such conditions.
