Allahabad HC Seeks UP Govt Response in Akanksha Dubey CBI Probe Petition

The Allahabad High Court has instructed the Uttar Pradesh government to respond within three weeks to a writ petition calling for a CBI investigation into the alleged suicide of Bhojpuri actress and model Akanksha Dubey. The petition, filed by the victim’s mother Madhu Dubey, cites a lack of confidence in the local police’s handling of the case from the initial scene investigation to the subsequent charge sheet filing.

A division bench, comprising Justices Anjani Kumar Mishra and Vivek Kumar Singh, presided over the hearing and scheduled the case for review in five weeks.

Investigation Ongoing

The petitioner argues that the conduct of the Uttar Pradesh Police during the investigation has raised doubts, necessitating a thorough CBI inquiry.

Madhu Dubey’s petition also alleges several irregularities in the Uttar Pradesh Police’s handling of the case.

Akanksha Dubey, a 25-year-old actress, was found dead in her Sarnath hotel room on March 26 of this year while in Varanasi for a project shoot. Notably, shortly before her death, she had shared a video of herself showcasing her belly dancing skills to a Bhojpuri song.
