Mobile Internet Ban in Haryana till August 5:

  1. In the past 24 hours, there has been no significant escalation of violence in Haryana, but incidents of unrest continue. A scrap shop was set on fire near Kherki Daula in Gurugram. The two mosques in Tauru were attacked with Molotov cocktails by motorcycle-borne assailants, causing damage. Mobile internet services will remain suspended in the affected areas until August 5, including three subdivisions of Gurugram.
  2. To prevent the spread of misinformation and rumors via social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, etc., which could incite violence and damage public and private property, the Haryana government ordered the suspension of mobile internet services.
  3. Haryana’s Home Minister, Anil Vij, announced the formation of a three-member committee responsible for monitoring social media activity on Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp.
  4. The government stated that Monu Manesar, the alleged central figure behind the violence, will face consequences if his involvement is confirmed. His viral video announcing his presence at the Brij Mandal Jalabhishek procession in Nuh caused concern, but the Home Minister emphasized that it shouldn’t lead to property damage or violence against people.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi expressed concern over the disturbed peace in different parts of the country, attributing it to the politics of ‘divide and rule.’ She referred to discussions with farmer sisters from Haryana and highlighted incidents in Mewat and other places as condemnable outcomes of such tactics.

  3. To maintain law and order in Nuh and prevent further deterioration, the Haryana government relocated the 2nd India Reserve Battalion (IRB) headquarters from Bhondsi to Nuh district.
  4. The Nuh violence has resulted in the death of six individuals, including two home guards. Authorities have arrested 116 people and detained 90 others in connection with the incidents.
