Asian Games 2026: Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet Win 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team Gold for India With Asian Record in Shooting Final

India celebrated its second gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 after Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet produced a record-breaking performance in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. The Indian pair dominated the shooting final in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on September 25, finishing with 484.6 points to secure the gold medal. Their score also established a new Asian Games record.

The victory marked India’s first gold medal in shooting at the ongoing Asian Games and came after both shooters had experienced disappointing results in their respective individual events. The duo responded strongly when it mattered most, maintaining their advantage throughout the final.

Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet Dominate the Final

The Indian mixed team started the final with a strong score of 103.0 in the opening series. They continued to build their advantage, reaching 202.4 and then 303.5 as the competition progressed.

In the second stage, the pair remained at the top of the leaderboard. Their score moved to 364.7 before reaching 424.9 after another series. With the Indian duo consistently finding high scores, their lead gave them a significant advantage heading into the decisive stage.

South Korea’s Suhyeon Hong and Gaeun Choo remained India’s closest challengers. However, Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh stayed composed and eventually completed the final with 484.6 points.

Asian Record Seals India’s Shooting Gold

The 484.6-point score was not only enough for gold but also set a new Asian Games record. The Indian pair finished 6.6 points ahead of South Korea, which scored 478.0 to take silver. Iran secured the bronze medal with 415.8 points.

The performance was particularly notable because the margins in shooting can often be extremely small. India’s ability to establish an early advantage and maintain it through the final stage proved decisive.

According to reports, the new mark also surpassed the previous Asian record of 481.3, set by Uzbekistan earlier in 2026.

Strong Qualification Performance

Before reaching the 10m air pistol final, Suruchi and Kamaljeet topped the qualification round with 587 points and 29 inner 10s. They recorded series of 196, 195 and 196, giving them a place among the four pairs competing for the medals.

Their qualification performance provided an early indication that the Indian combination was capable of challenging for the podium. They carried that momentum into the final and eventually converted it into India’s second gold medal of the Games.

A Remarkable Turnaround for the Indian Duo

The gold medal was especially significant because neither shooter had enjoyed an ideal individual campaign. Kamaljeet had narrowly missed qualification for the men’s individual final, while Suruchi Singh finished 26th in the women’s individual 10m air pistol qualification.

The mixed team event provided another opportunity, and the two shooters made full use of it. Reports also noted that Kamaljeet joined Suruchi as part of a late change to India’s mixed-team combination following the individual qualification results.

That change ultimately produced a highly successful partnership. Together, they delivered India’s first shooting gold medal of the Asian Games 2026.

India’s Second Gold Medal at Asian Games 2026

The triumph took India’s gold-medal count to two at the time of the result. India’s women’s cricket team had earlier won the country’s first gold of the Games, while the Suruchi Singh-Kamaljeet combination added the second.

For Indian shooting, the result was an important medal after a difficult start in the 10m air pistol events. The Asian-record performance in the mixed team final gave the shooting contingent a major boost and added another memorable chapter to India’s campaign in Aichi-Nagoya.
