Seema Kumari Ends 16-Year Wait As India Win 2 Silver, 3 Bronze On Day 6 Of Asian Games 2026 In Aichi-Nagoya Across Shooting, Rowing, Wushu And Athletics

The Asian Games 2026 produced another memorable day for India as the country collected five medals on Day 6 at the Aichi-Nagoya Games. The haul included two silver and three bronze medals, with athletes from athletics, wushu, rowing and shooting contributing to the tally.

The biggest individual highlight came from distance runner Seema Kumari, who ended India’s 16-year wait for a women’s 10,000m Asian Games medal. Her bronze in the event added a historic chapter to India’s athletics campaign at Aichi-Nagoya.

Seema Kumari Ends India’s 16-Year Wait

Seema Kumari delivered one of the standout performances of the day in the women’s 10,000m final. She clocked 32:50.05 to finish third and secure the bronze medal. Bahrain’s Winfred Yavi won gold in 32:39.18, while Japan’s Nozomi Tanaka took silver in 32:41.54.

Seema’s achievement is significant because India had not won a women’s 10,000m medal at the Asian Games since the 2010 edition. Her bronze therefore ended a 16-year medal drought in the discipline and also gave Indian athletics its first podium finish at the 2026 Games.

Her performance added further momentum to India’s growing presence in long-distance running and became one of the defining moments of the day’s India Medals story.

Mixed 4x400m Relay Team Wins Silver

India’s athletics campaign delivered another medal shortly after Seema’s race. The Indian mixed 4x400m relay team finished second to claim silver.

The quartet of Machettira Poovamma, Vishal Thennarasu, Vithya Ramraj and Thekkinalil Manu secured the silver medal, giving India a strong start to its track-and-field campaign.

The result also continued India’s success in the mixed relay event after the team had earned silver at the previous Asian Games. The performance demonstrated the depth of India’s athletics contingent across both individual and relay events.

Roshibina Devi Makes History In Wushu

Another major silver medal came from wushu, where Naorem Roshibina Devi finished runner-up in the women’s 60kg sanda competition.

Roshibina lost the final to China’s Zhang Xiaoyu but secured her third consecutive Asian Games medal. She had previously won bronze in 2018 and silver in 2022, making her the first Indian wushu athlete to win medals at three successive editions of the Asian Games.

Her achievement further strengthened India’s record in wushu and added an important silver to the Day 6 medal collection.

Rowing Adds Another Bronze

India also reached the podium in rowing as Satnam Singh and Salman Khan won bronze in the men’s double sculls.

The Indian pair finished the final in 6:13.25 at the Nagaragawa International Regatta Course. Their performance gave India an early medal on Day 6 and continued the country’s progress in rowing at the continental competition.

The result was especially notable after Balraj Panwar narrowly missed a medal in the men’s singles sculls final, finishing fourth.

Shooting Produces Another Bronze

India’s shooting contingent also added to the medal tally on Day 6. Anant Jeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal won bronze in the mixed skeet team event.

The result marked India’s first-ever podium finish in the mixed skeet team category at the Asian Games. The Indian pair finished behind the leading teams after a closely contested competition, but their bronze represented another milestone for the country’s shooting programme.

Shooting had already been one of India’s major medal-producing sports earlier in the competition, and the mixed skeet result extended that contribution.

Athletics, Shooting, Rowing And Wushu Drive India’s Medal Push

Day 6 highlighted the wide range of sports contributing to India’s campaign. Shooting continued to produce medals, rowing added another podium finish, wushu delivered a historic silver through Roshibina Devi, and athletics produced two medals through Seema Kumari and the mixed 4x400m relay team.

India’s Asian Games 2026 Campaign Continues

With five medals added on Day 6, India’s campaign at the Asian Games 2026 continued to build across multiple disciplines. Seema Kumari’s historic bronze, Roshibina Devi’s milestone silver and the medals from shooting, rowing and relay athletics gave Indian fans several reasons to follow the remaining competition closely.

As the Games progress in Aichi-Nagoya, India’s medal challenge will continue across athletics, shooting, kabaddi and several other disciplines. The Day 6 results have already added another memorable chapter to India’s Asian Games journey.
