Delhi Bus Gang-Rape: 16-Year-Old Mainpuri Girl Allegedly Sexually Assaulted in Sleeper Bus During 47-Km Ride to Kashmere Gate, Driver-Conductor Arrested

A disturbing Delhi bus gang-rape case has emerged from the National Capital Region after a 16-year-old Class 11 student from Uttar Pradesh allegedly suffered sexual assault inside a moving sleeper bus. According to police sources cited by multiple news organisations, the incident took place on the night of August 4 during a journey from the Greater Noida area towards Delhi’s Kashmere Gate.

Delhi Police have arrested the bus driver and conductor in connection with the case. The sleeper bus has also been seized and sent for forensic examination as investigators work to establish the complete sequence of events.

16-Year-Old Student Was Travelling Towards Noida

According to reports, the teenager is a resident of Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh. Police said she had left home without informing her family and was travelling to meet a cousin in Noida.

During heavy rain and darkness, she reportedly got off at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida by mistake. While stranded, she noticed an empty sleeper bus passing through the area and sought assistance.

Police said the driver and conductor stopped the vehicle and allegedly told her that they were travelling towards Noida Sector 63. She was subsequently allowed to board the bus.

Alleged Sexual Assault Inside Moving Sleeper Bus

The teenager has alleged that shortly after the bus began moving, the conductor behaved inappropriately towards her. According to the police account reported by news outlets, the driver and conductor subsequently allegedly sexually assaulted her and threatened her when she resisted.

The allegation is being investigated by Delhi Police, and the accused remain accused at this stage. The identity and dignity of the minor survivor should be protected, and no details that could reveal her identity should be published.

Reports indicate that the sleeper bus had curtains around its berths. Police believe the curtained interior may have prevented people outside the vehicle from seeing what was allegedly happening inside during the journey.

Bus Travelled Nearly 47 Km Towards Kashmere Gate

One of the most concerning aspects of the Delhi bus gang-rape case is the reported distance travelled by the vehicle.

According to police sources, the bus covered approximately 47 kilometres from Pari Chowk to Kashmere Gate. The teenager was allegedly left near Ring Road, close to the Kashmere Gate bus terminal, later that night.

After being abandoned, the frightened student reportedly approached the Kashmere Gate police and informed officers about the alleged incident. Her complaint led to further police action and the arrest of the two accused.

Driver And Conductor Arrested

Delhi Police arrested the driver, identified in reports as Kuldeep, and the conductor, identified as Sandeep. According to police, the two were arrested from a parking area in Timarpur.

The police also seized the sleeper bus believed to have been involved in the case. The vehicle has been sent for forensic examination, while investigators are examining other available evidence, including the route and circumstances surrounding the journey.

Police sources said the bus had earlier developed a mechanical problem and had been taken to a workshop in Surajpur, Greater Noida, for repairs. After the repairs, the driver and conductor were reportedly taking the empty vehicle towards Timarpur when they encountered the teenager at Pari Chowk.

Police Investigation Underway

The case has raised concerns about passenger safety, particularly on sleeper buses where curtains and enclosed berths can reduce visibility from outside. The alleged incident also highlights the risks faced by minors and other vulnerable passengers who may depend on strangers for assistance while travelling during difficult circumstances.

Investigators are examining the bus for forensic evidence and reconstructing the route taken between Greater Noida and Delhi. Reports have also indicated that police are looking at available surveillance footage and other evidence connected with the journey.

Safety Concerns Across Delhi NCR

The Delhi bus gang-rape allegations have renewed questions about safety and accountability in public and private transport operating across Delhi NCR, particularly during late-night journeys.

Transport operators have a responsibility to maintain safe travel environments, while passengers should have access to reliable emergency assistance and mechanisms for reporting suspicious or threatening behaviour. For minors, additional safeguards are especially important.

The case involving Kashmere Gate, Noida, and the reported 47-kilometre journey remains under investigation. With the driver and conductor arrested and the sleeper bus undergoing forensic examination, further details are expected as Delhi Police continue their probe into the alleged sexual assault.
