A shocking woman death case from Greater Noida has sparked outrage after a 24-year-old newlywed allegedly fell from the third-floor terrace of her in-laws’ home in Jalpura village. Police have arrested the husband following allegations of dowry harassment and suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
According to police officials, the incident occurred during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday in Greater Noida’s Ecotech-III police station area. The deceased woman, identified as Deepika Nagar, had been married for nearly 18 months before the tragic incident took place.
Family Alleges Dowry Harassment Behind Woman Death
The woman’s family has accused her husband and in-laws of mentally and physically harassing her for dowry since the early months of marriage. The family alleged that the accused demanded a Toyota Fortuner SUV and ₹50 lakh in cash.

Deepika’s father claimed that the family had already spent a huge amount on the wedding, including cash, jewellery, and other expensive gifts. However, the harassment allegedly continued, leading to repeated disputes inside the matrimonial home.
The woman’s relatives further alleged that she was assaulted before being thrown off the terrace to make the incident appear like suicide or an accidental fall. The allegations have intensified public anger over the growing number of dowry-related woman death cases in Uttar Pradesh.
Husband Arrested After Police Investigation
Following a complaint filed by the victim’s family, Greater Noida police registered a dowry death case and arrested the husband. Reports also suggest that the father-in-law was detained for questioning in connection with the investigation.
Police officials stated that multiple injury marks were found on the woman’s body, including bruises and other suspicious wounds. The body has been sent for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Investigators are currently examining call records, witness statements, and forensic evidence to understand whether the woman died due to suicide, accident, or murder. Authorities have assured strict action if dowry harassment allegations are proven true.
