The quake struck at 10:08 am (IST), causing buildings to sway and prompting people in several regions to rush outdoors in fear of aftershocks. According to preliminary seismic data, the epicentre of the earthquake was located at latitude 23.77°N and longitude 90.51°E in Bangladesh, at a shallow depth of 10 km.
