Akshay Kumar’s Welcome to the Jungle Delayed Due to Payment Issues: Report
The much-awaited film with Akshay Kumar, Welcome To The Jungle, which is the third part in the famous Welcome franchise, is apparently running into a lot of delays as per the reports because of its major financial trouble as far as payment of huge cast and crew is concerned. This has caused numerous cancellation of the schedules and an increased uncertainty of the completion of the project.
Reports indicate that the movie which features a long list of ensemble cast featuring Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez and Disha Patani among others has been hampered by financial issues over the past few months. Although the shooting started in December 2023, and a few schedules were filmed in Mumbai and Kashmir, sources point to the production at snail pace with a large part of the shot still pending.
One focal area on dispute seems to be lack or non-payment of dues to different actors and their employees. The revelations made by industry sources have shown that approximately two to three schedules of the movie have been delayed during the past six months itself and this has resulted in frustration and confusion in the minds of the artists due to whom dates were booked to shoot the movie. Besides causing wastage of precious time on part of actors involved, it also leads to vast monetary loss as it is time that would have been used on some other project or other requirement of the brand.
More so, issues of financial composition of the film arise. As the producer, Firoz Nadiadwala is helming the project, it is reported that the primary stake in the venture, around 80 percent as a matter of fact, is under Akshay Kumar with the rest of the 20 percent stake to be shared between Nadiadwala and other people involved. To this extent, this quite unbalanced setup and an oversized cast that includes more than 20 high-profile names can make negotiations more difficult and cause dissatisfaction, which could be another factor in the payment delays.
At one stage, it was reported that the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) halted the film’s shooting due to outstanding payments from other previous movies associated with Firoz Nadiadwala. The makers had earlier claimed the film had not been shelved and that 70% of the shoot was completed and even claimed to have an international schedule. However, ongoing claims over payment details indicate the decision to halt production is far from finished.

Originally scheduled for a Christmas 2024 release, “Welcome To The Jungle” is now likely to be postponed until 2025. Continuous postponements and payment impasses are not only increasing production costs but also run a higher risk of reducing audience interest over time. It also reveals a broader issue for big-budget Bollywood productions featuring stars, where projects can fall victim to delays, payment disputes, and backing out itself can affect logistics, finances, or even the morale of those involved. The industry will be watching for resolution on any and all these payment disputes with the hope of returning to production on this highly-anticipated comedy entertainer.
