Air Raid Sirens, Blackouts & Missile Strikes: India Thwarts Massive Pakistani Attack Across Western Border
Several Indian border towns experienced loud explosions, total blackouts and air raid sirens on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. The Indian Army said on Friday that it successfully repelled several Pakistani attacks along the whole western border on the intervening nights of May 8 and May 9 using drones and other weapons. In the Jammu region India’s S400 air defense system shot down hostile missiles at several locations along the western border intercepting at least eight Pakistani missiles at Satwari Samba RS Pura and Arnia.
All throughout the Jammu region sirens and blackouts were triggered. The towns of Akhnoor Samba Baramulla and Kupwara also reported hearing sirens.
The Indian military claimed to have stopped attempts by Pakistani forces to use drones and missiles to strike multiple military targets in 15 cities in the north and west of the country on Thursday. The Indian military also targeted Pakistan’s air defense network at multiple locations in Pakistan destroying the Lahore branch in the counterattack.
The development occurred one day after India retaliated for the Pahalgam terror attack which claimed 26 lives on April 22 by launching precision strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Operation Sindoor was the codename for the mission. According to Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, the operation killed at least 100 terrorists, he said at an all-party meeting on Thursday.
BSF Kills 7 Terrorists in Samba J&K and Stops a Significant Infiltration Attempt from Pakistan
On the intervening night of May 8 and 9 2025 the Border Security Force (BSF) shot down at least seven terrorists while successfully thwarting a massive infiltration attempt along the International Border in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Additionally the Pakistan Post Dhandhar which was thought to be the location of the infiltration attempt sustained significant damage from the forces.
BSF killed at least seven terrorists and severely damaged the Pakistan Post Dhandhar on May 8-9 2025 thwarting a major infiltration attempt at the International Boundary in Samba district J&K, a BSF source stated.
India-Pakistan Tensions Cause ICAI to Postpone the CA Inter and Final Exams
on India and Pakistan: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced that the remaining papers for the Chartered Accountants Final Intermediate and Post Qualification Course Examinations will be postponed due to the growing tensions between India and Pakistan.
The examination period was set for May 9–14.
In a partial revision to the Institutes Significant Announcement No. In light of the country’s tense and security situation the remaining papers for the Chartered Accountants Final Intermediate and Post Qualification Course Examinations [International Taxation Assessment Test (INTT AT)] in May 2025 which were scheduled to take place from May 9 to May 14 have been postponed according to ICAIs announcement in 13-CA (EXAM)/2025 dated January 13 2025.
Due to Border Tensions Hospitals in Uttarakhand are on High Alert
The Uttarakhand government has ordered all hospitals in the state to stay on high alert due to the ongoing tensions with Pakistan. Hospital employees and doctors’ leaves have been canceled. In accordance with directives from the Central Health Ministry Uttarakhand Health Secretary R Rajesh Kumar has issued the required guidelines and directed the state to designate 12000 beds across all hospitals and maintain all intensive care units and ventilators in optimal condition.

People in Panchkula Haryana are Advised to Stay Inside
In order to protect themselves and their families Panchkula DC Monika Gupta has issued an advisory telling the people of the district to stay inside and only go outside when absolutely necessary. She added that since no damage has been reported in the ongoing situation the district is completely safe. She has however urged caution and asked for the public’s full cooperation.
Additionally she stated that all educational institutions i.e. Colleges and schools will be closed until Saturday.
