UPSC results got declared, and all eyes were glued to the top three toppers of this year. However, there is more to look at in this year’s result. Divya Shakti manages to crack it twice when it’s huge task to crack an exam like UPSC once.
Divya Shakti from Saran’s Jalalpur district, Bihar, secured 79th rank in her previous attempt. She got selected as an IPS officer in 2019. This was her second attempt. But this was not what Shakti was actually aspiring for. Therefore, to realize her desire to become an IAS officer, she continued her preparations and appeared for the UPSC 2022 examinations.
Along with training in IPS, she secured 58th rank at the All-India level this year. In her first attempt, she could not qualify for the Preliminary exam of UPSC.

Ms. Divya Shakti is a native of Saran’s Jalalpur district. She was born and brought up in a doctor’s family. Always a meritorious student, she completed her high school at Muzaffarpur and moved to DPS Bokaro for intermediate studies. She completed her engineering degree in computer science from BITS Pilani. She also has an MSc in Economics from the same college.
She worked in an American company for two years. She appeared in the UPSC civil services exam in 2019. Her father, an ex-superintendent of the government medical college hospital (GMCH), Bettiah. The proud father can’t stop rejoicing at the success of her brilliant daughter and told in an interview with India Today, “Divya was a studious child from the beginning.” Her family members wished her all the best for her bright future. They also called her an inspiration for other aspirants.
The Civil Services Examination is a nationwide competitive examination in India conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to higher Civil Services of the Government of India, including the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, and Indian Police Service.

Right strategy
It is said that a goal without a plan is just a wish. Therefore, it’s crucial to have a full-proof plan devised after carefully analysing the exam demand, the PYQs, and the syllabus.
Hard work
Once your plan is ready, just give your 100% to stick to it.
Try having a solid support system of close friends and family to pull you up when you feel demotivated.
Clearing the UPSC CSE exam in the first attempt is very much doable. There have been numerous examples of people acing this exam with Rank 1 in their first attempt. It has been said that certain essential ingredients are a must for clearing this exam on the first or any subsequent attempt.
Drive & motivation
The foremost thing is your drive and your motivation. One must be clear about why one wants to become a civil servant and if one is completely ready for the journey ahead. It must not be done under any peer or parental pressure. An apparent reason will keep you going at the lowest point of your preparation journey.
Chalk down the strategy
It would be best if you chalked down your strategy. But alas, there is no secret recipe for this. This strategy must be well-deliberated and unique, for you are the best judge of your strengths and weaknesses. As per the toppers’ talks- Read the syllabus and analysed the question papers before finally zeroing down on my strategy.
Focus and consistency.
You must cut the clutter around you and maintain a regular study routine.
