Cancun: A city that expresses itself

 

A city in southeastern Mexico, Cancun is one of the most world-renowned tourist destinations, located on Caribbean Sea. “Cancun is a must visit tourist spot. We find beaches in most of the places but this one was a different and very unique experience”, says Uma Ratnajee Rao, a recent visitor to Cancun city.

Located at the north of Mexico’s Caribbean coast resort band known as the Riviera Maya, Cancun’s name has two possible translation based on Mayan pronunciation, one of which is ‘nest of snakes’ and the other and less accepted one being, ‘place of the gold snake’.

The inhabitants of Cancun are mostly from Yucatan and other Mexican states, where a growing number of people are from rest of the Americas and Europe. “Mexican people are really nice; they love if you talk even a bit in their language, they are helpful and fun loving people.” expresses Mrs.Rao.

The city is not only a destination to be visited by grown-ups but also a destination for people who do not wish to grow EVER! If you just don’t want to take a walk at the beaches or take a long-drive in the city you have other cool options to try on. If you are an adventure freak then Cancun gives you the opportunity to parasail above the beautiful beaches, climb-up on a dolphin and feel like one of them, snorkeling in between the dangerous yet beautiful aquatic-life etc. would definitely make your trip, a memorable one. “Dolphin show is awesome! This time kids participated with dolphins, which is like swim with dolphins and kisses and shake hands and other small activities, which is kind of cool and kids really enjoyed but it’s kind of expensive too.”

Chichen Itza, Cancun

Zipline canopy tour is another experience you ought to have if you visit Cancun, “Oh yes! We went to a place called EXPLORE where you do Zip lines and river rafting with your hands under caves and 5 km of driving a big vehicle through the jungle (did not see any animals though) one more thing is 5 km of swimming but we were exhausted so did not do that and also we both do not know swimming so we thought it’s not a good idea”, says Uma Rao.

If you are a music lover then Cancun has Xoximilco Cruise which will give you a great time and experience and if you are someone who likes visually appealing things then Chichen Itza is the right place for you. Chichen Itza is one of the most beautiful archeological sites a magnificent display of Mayan culture and the ceremonial center of the Yucatán. The light show in the evening can release all your stress you have accumulated throughout the entire day.

Snorkelling Fun at Cancun

Going to Mexico and not trying other cuisines is just doing injustice to your appetite because what you cannot imagine would be made possible by the restaurants over there. “Dining experience was really good; a lot of varieties of food are available there! Since we are vegetarians we had fewer choices. The restaurants serve nachos and salsa whereever you go, so that was really filling for us. In resort area different cuisines are available like Italian, Thai, Indian, Japanese and of course Mexican. We really loved the Indian restaurant called Elephante” says Uma.

The climate of Cancun is tropical climate. It is a tropical wet and dry climate city with minor temperature differences between seasons. The city is warm the year round and most of the temperature changes are visible from November to February with occasional refreshing northerly breezes. March and April are the drier and hotter months, and the hottest time is between May and September. Surprisingly, the sea temperature is always warm, so you can enjoy swimming any hour of the day or night. “We went there in August and normally it’s a rainy season but it was very hot! However the inhabitants say when it rains it really rains very hard though it doesn’t last long may be half an hour or so.”

So if you want to visit a place, which gives you peace of soul and mind then do visit Cancan because the white sand and the blue clear waters are surely going to keep you engaged within yourself and the most beautiful scenic place of this city would make you fall in love with your own self and around.
