A visit to Dawki

After a lot of thinking and planning that always goes waste, we decided that Dawki is a place that must be visited. Since we were already in Shillong, the journey to Dawki was not very long or tiring.

The road from Shillong to Dawki was beautiful and offered some great spots for photography. One could almost feel as if they were touching the clouds from there. On reaching Dawki, we were stunned by the clarity of the water and the splendid view it offered.

What was even more fascinating was the fact that we could see Bangladesh from where we stood and a step or two forward would have actually landed us there.

The border is not demarcated as we often see in other border places. The border there is marked by just two BSF people who do not allow you to step any further. A shaky boat ride in the old primitive ‘nauka’ is a must for all (make sure to not shake much or the boat will topple).

Though the place has recently started seeing a lot of travellers, there are not many places to eat and no hotels to stay in over there. But, it is a place that should be visited if you love nature.
