• Camp Wild, Dhauj.

If you are a group of 6 or more friends, than this is the place for you. Located in the picturesque Aravali ranges, 40 kms from Delhi, it is the ideal weekend gateway.

 

You could plan a day trip or a stay over. There area whole bunch of activities that you can do at this place.

On arrival, they take you for a gruesome session of rappelling and rock climbing. Thereafter, you are served with lunch and taken to the obstacle course, which trust me is real fun. On completing the course, there a few fun group games like tug of war etc. waiting for you.

 

Last but not the least, you are taken for a short and pleasant hike atop the Aravalli ranges. The hike is relaxing and makes you forget all the worries of the busy city life. On completion you are served with hot pakoras and tea.

 

By the time you’re through with the activities it’ll be evening and then you can choose to leave or if you have the time and resources, you can plan to stay over. The cozy and comfortable cottages situated amongst the wild, will ensure a peaceful night’s sleep.

• IMF, Artificial Wall

Well, in case you are all by yourself and think there is nothing that you could do, you might just be wrong. The Artificial Wall at the Indian Mountaineering Foundation could be the answer to all your problems.

With 8 different routes ranging in difficulty, it keeps both the amateurs and professionals interested.

 

Before starting, the instructor instructs you about all the equipments, techniques and safety to be kept in mind while climbing. Once you complete a route twice, you have the option to move onto the next.

• Khooni Jheel

Located inside the Kamla Nehru Northern Ridge, this lake is named so because it is believed that bodies of soldiers of the 1857 revolution were dumped inside this 80ft deep lake.

As one walks towards it through a veritable jungle, you can see a signboard warning visitors not to venture there after sunset. Many believe that the jheel is a haunted stretch of water, though the logical explanation may be that it is haunted by anti-social elements.

 

This place is best to visit in the early winter mornings, and with many sites from 1857 played around the area, it will make for a day well spent.

• Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary

The green lung & carbon sink for the country’s capital, this forested ridge area extends throughout the city of Delhi, but development has all but destroyed it. The reserve is found at the end of a rutted track that leads through a dusty unlicensed village.Once an overly exploited mining area, it is now a green forest filled with many wild animals & natural flora of the Delhi Ridge. The large abandoned mine pits have turned into beautiful lakes which are still largely unknown amongst the masses.Walking past thickets of keekar, far away from the sounds of the city, this might just turn out to be the ideal weekend get-away for you.

A sprawling forest of about 10 sqkms located in the VasantKunj area, it is a delightful place for the bird watchers as it has many jungle trails to observe both flora and fauna. It isprobably one of the most haunted places of the metropolis because the forest houses innumerable Mazars (mausoleums of Sufi saints) & graves surrounded by old and winding banyan trees.
