SC has extended all Aadhar linking up to March 31 to make the process less chaotic


According to reports, the Supreme Court has extended the Aadhar linking deadline for all services to March 31, 2018. Notably, yesterday, the apex court reserved its interim order on pleas that sought a stay on Narendra Modi’s government’s decision on mandatory Aadhar linking with several welfare schemes.

Notably, a constitution bench on the Supreme Court, which was headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra said the final hearing of petitions challenging Aadhar itself will begin from January 17, 2018.

The central government yesterday told the Supreme Court that it was ready to extend the deadline for mandatory Aadhar linking to avail different services, to March 31 next year.

Apart from this, the Modi government has also issued a notification to extend the deadline for PAN (Permanent Account Number), but there was no mention about the SIM cards for which the deadline is February 6, 2018.

In the Supreme Court, Attorney General KK Venugopal said February 6, 2018, deadline was chosen in pursuance of an apex court, and that the constitution bench may consider extending it.

The center has also told Supreme Court that Aadhar should remain mandatory for opening a new account.

Notably, a lot of petitions were filed in the apex court challenging the validity of Aadhaar claiming that it has violated privacy rights.

Well, this extension will give relief to a lot of people because it will make the process chaotic free. So many people will get time to enroll for Aadhar.
