The Aayog has also suggested that the government should make the farm sector up to the mark, for this a comprehensive reform package is needed and it should also have a high involvement from the market, especially, when considered that the share of the agriculture in the India’s gross domestic product has been on a downfall.

An official statement stated that, PM has said that the focus cannot be entirely on the increasing agricultural productivity alone, but rather it should be on the overall development if a vibrant rural economy. He has also mentioned the importance of warehouse development, food processing sector, and the technology inputs, in this sector.

Arvind Panagariya, the Niti Aayog’s vice-chairman has said that the original agenda of PM’s meeting was to further discuss the think-tank’s approach for preparing the 15-year document. He also sought discussions over the work done by Niti Aayog since the time it was established, over 18 months ago.

PM has now asked the Niti Aayog to come up with a Vision Document that would contain a roadmap for the country’s development in the next 15 years to bring various transformational change, and also suggested that the document should also lay the foundation of the country’s growth agenda for the entire 21st Century.
