Lanba to take over as Chief of Naval Staff

Vice Admiral Sunil Lanba, currently Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C), Western Naval Command will soon take over the position of the Chief of Naval Staff, after Admiral R.K. Dhowan retires from his service.

Officers of Western Naval Command accorded Vice Admiral Lanba with a warm send off, with the traditional ‘Pulling Out’ ceremony. He will take over as the chief from Tuesday.

Lanba complimented the personnel, who was bearing the constrains of the service have worked with full energy and teamwork, ensuring that ships, submarines and aircraft are maintained in full readiness at all times.

Remembering the recently held International Fleet Review at Visakhapatnam, Lanba said that the presence of 50 countries in the review clearly explains the growing stature of the country.

“Many countries have expressed their desire to work with Indian Navy, which is a clear indication of professionalism displayed by the team. He urged people to continue working together and smartly to bring change,” he added.

Mr. Lanba was commissioned on January 1, 1978 into the Executive Branch of Indian Navy.
