While addressing a function at Mahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, President Pranab Mukherjee made a sharp statement over the ongoing debate on ‘Intolerance’ in India.
He said that “The real dirt of India lies not on the streets but in our minds”. The moment we will clean it, so many things will automatically get sorted out.
He praised Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan movement of Prime Minister and even added that this should be just seen as the beginning of a much larger and intense effort of cleanse minds and fulfill Gandhiji’s effort in all aspect.
Last but not the least, he said empathy and compassion is the true foundation of our civilization and we should try to maintain it.
