India on Monday joined the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) as a full member and said their input would be of mutual benefit to improve global non-proliferation norms.
Marking the first entry of India in any multilateral regime of export controls, Secretary S Jaishankar signed the instrument of accession to the MTCR in the presence of the French ambassador appointed Alexandre Ziegler, Ambassador of the Netherlands Alfonso Stoelinga and Luxembourg Business manager Laure Huberty.

The Contact Point MTCR in Paris has passed the decision on the accession of India to the regime, as well as the embassies of the Netherlands and Luxembourg, he said.
The Gateway of India in MTCR comes days after it failed to get the GSN adhesion due to strong opposition from China and some other countries.
