ED net tightens on HP CM Virbhadra Singh

India’s Enforcement Directorate filed a case of money laundring, under the Prevention of Money Laundring Act, charging the Chief Minster of Himachal Pradesh Virbhadra Singh with illegally getting gratifications totalling INR 61 Million in his tenure as India’s Union Minister of Steel in 2009-2011.

The case was filed in september of this year, after it was discovered that Singh tried to revise his income tax returns retrospectviely in 2012 for the preceding years, by showing this amount as agricultural income (which is tax free in India).

After coming into possession of certain documents, the ED conducted simultaneous raids on various premises in Kolktata, Delhi and Mumbai. These raids were conducted in the premises of known associates of Virbhardra, and the associates of these associates, through whom this money is alleged to have passed on it’s journey of of being washed, cleaned, and made squeaky clean!
