The legendary cricketer Rahul Dravid turns 50. Known as the Wall, Dravid seems to be playing a crucial knock, this time in his second innings as a cricket coach. While cricket powerhouse nations like West Indies and South Africa are struggling to find potential superstars, India has a problem of having plenty of them. The credit must go to India’s former captain Rahul Dravid, who mentored them to get international-stage ready.

One World News wants to wish Happy Birthday to Rahul Dravid by remembering the biggest milestones of his life.

  1. Rahul Dravid became the first Indian to hit 5 double hundreds in International Test Cricket. 200* vs Zimbabwe, 217 vs England, 233 against Australia, and 270 against Pakistan.
  2. He is the only Indian batsman to score a century against every Test-playing nation.
  3. The former captain of India is among the only three batsmen to hit four Consecutive Test centuries.
  4. Dravid is involved in most century partnerships in Test history – 70.
  5. In 2006, the wall scored at least one fifty in 7 consecutive Tests.
  6. His average is the highest amongst all batsmen who have scored 5000 runs in away matches.
  7. Dravid is one of the fewest to average more in away matches (58.06) than the home matches (50.67).
  8.   The longest streak of consecutive Tests since debut (94). The world record feat was equaled by Australian legend Adam Gilchrist later.
  9. He almost scored 23 percent of the runs put up by India in the 21 Test matches that India won under the leadership of Sourav Ganguly.
  10. Dravid along with Virendra Sehwag forged a partnership of 410 runs against Pakistan at Lahore in 2006. This is the highest partnership for India in away matches for any wicket.
  11. He is only third in the list of fielders who have taken the most number of catches in Tests (163). Only Brian Lara and Mark Waugh have taken more catches in the field.
  12. Rahul is the fastest to reach 9000 runs in Test Cricket. He took 176 innings to achieve this feat.
  13. He holds the world record of not being dismissed on duck for 120 consecutive ODI innings.
  14. He was involved in the highest partnership in the history of ODI cricket with a 331-run partnership along with Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar against New Zealand at Hyderabad in 1999-00. The record was broken by Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels.
  15. Dravid was the leading run-scorer in the 1999 World Cup with 461 runs.
