Scientists have developed a flexible artificial skin, based on paper the elements found in a typical household would be capable of sensing pressure, temperature, humidity, proximity, pH and airflow.
Imitation leather multi-sensor can respond to external stimuli and could have important applications in medicine and robotics, researchers said. Based skin paper was spread on a post-it note, paper, foil, lint-free wipes and it acted as a sensing component.
Made from recyclable materials, this skin paper presents a large number of sensory functions of an inexpensive and friendly way with the environment. “The democratization of electronics will be key in the future for continued growth,” said Professor Mustafa Muhammad Hussain of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia said.
