Healing Antarctic

Researchers say they have found the first clear evidence that the thinning in the ozone layer above Antarctica is starting to heal.

The ozone hole was 4 million square km smaller in year 2015 than in 2000 it was.
The gains have been credited to the long term phasing out of ozone-destroying chemicals.

Thinning of ozone in the stratosphere was observed first by a British scientists in 1980s above 10 Kms of Antarctica.

Why do we need ozone?
It’s the most important layer to stop ultraviolet radiation enter directly on earth from sun. Lack of or hole in ozone layer invites the chances of skin cancer, cataract damage, and harm to animals and plants.
