Today Guru Nanak Jayanti 2022, Guru Nanak Dev ji and it is celebrated with traditional religious zeal and fervor and enthusiasm across India and at many places abroad too. Guru Nanak was born at Rai Boi di Talwandi now known as Nankana Sahib. It is observed annually on the full moon date of Kartik month or on the kartik purnima. A large number of devotees are gathered at historical Gurudwaras to offer their prayers and Akhand path Bhog is performed in various Gurudwaras. Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated across the nation with religious zeal.

Here is the importance of the festival

Today is the 553rd birth anniversary of Gurunanak Dev ji. It is believed that in 1496 he received enlightenment and preached to the world about peace and harmony. The day marks the importance of sharing, caring, and spreading harmony all around.

The followers celebrate this festival with joy and fun. They sing and dance to spread the message of Guru. The followers also carry Sikh flag, known as Nishan Sahib and Palki of Guru Granth Sahib. They marched the streets barefoot and the procession was led by the Panj Pyaras (The five beloved ones). Notably, this year the lunar eclipse will take place today (Chandra Grahan).  It will be seen in India at 4:23 Pm and will end at 6:19 Pm.

Notably, on the main day of the festival, people sing devotional songs and enjoy the fest. Followers also do Prabhat Pheris early in the morning. After it the teachings of Guru Nanak ji are read to followers. In India, it is a gazetted holiday. So here we wish you all a very Guru Nanak Jayanti.
