Good morning! But Is Your Morning Really Good?

Here are the 5 mistakes that should be avoided to make every morning a Good Morning

Good morning! This is the first wish we usually hear in the morning in the form of a text or as a WhatsApp message. But is your morning really ‘good’? How your day is going to end depends on how you start your day. And most of us start our day in all the wrong ways.

Here are a few common mistakes that people make in the morning which often ruin their entire day.

Staying in dark

Staying in dark

Do not stay in dark for long, once you are awake

Open the curtains and let the light fill your room. Your biological clock is light-sensitive. For getting back to action, certain hormones need bright and morning light immediately after you wake up.

Exposure to morning light, particularly the blue-green light prompts the release of the hormone cortisol. This stimulates and wakes you up, inhibiting the melatonin release, which makes you feel drowsy.

So, open your window and enjoy the blue sky and nature.

If you are not blessed with lots of greens, then go for a quick walk.

Missing morning hydration

Your body requires warm water after 7-8 hours of sleep. The first thing you should do after waking up is to drink a glass of warm water. It would rehydrate your body and also stimulate your digestive system to action. Missing a glass of water can put stress on the system because of dehydration.

Eating some solid food directly will again put lots of stress on your system.

As soon as you are out of the bed, take warm water, and after 15 minutes you can add lemon, a pinch of Haldi and mix it with a little honey.

Rushing to work

You are always in a hurry to go to work which is a big mistake.

Your state of mind in the morning decides your energy and state of the entire day. Hence, plan your morning well in advance so that you can spend at least 1 hour for yourself.

Utilize this time in yoga, walking, meditation, pranayama, or just relax while listening to the chirping of birds.

Your calm and focused mind will last at the end of the day.

Check our mobile phoneCheck our mobile phone

As per a survey, smartphone users check their mobile phones within 15 minutes of being awake. This habit can disturb the peace of mind which was attained through sleep.

Exposing ourselves to loads of information could cause more stress to our minds. Also, exposure to the bright light of phones can affect the eyes because of the darkness of the atmosphere. The blue light of the mobile phone can lead to red and dry eyes.

Therefore, avoid using your phone for at least an hour after waking up.

Skipping breakfast

Consuming more calories early in the morning may reduce the risk of heart attack, diabetes, and more circulatory problems

Skipping breakfast can also make you eat more throughout the day. It also puts your system under stress. Your body has a high absorbing capacity early in the morning.

Hence, having breakfast within 2 hours of waking up can help your body absorb all the nutrients efficiently.

As per J.S. Kumar, professor of medicine and diabetology in charge at SRM Medical College. “The brain requires fuel to function. Dinner from the previous night fuels only 8-10 hours, but delaying or skipping breakfast can mean your brain has less energy to function. Therefore, cognitive thinking will take a hit,”

Do not forget to include proteins in every meal including breakfast. Protein is linked to having less body fat but has lots of other benefits.

Greek yoghurt and cottage cheese are good sources of breakfast protein.

Morning is the foundation of the day and ensures to build this strength.
