Ask These Questions To Yourself & Save Your Mental Health From Depleting

Here are the six habits that can deplete your mental health

There are some habits we have that can cause damage to our mental health in the long run. You must be wondering if you are too are depleting your mental health or not. Ask yourself some questions and check your mental health.

Here are the six habits that can deplete your mental health.

Scroll, Scroll, and Scroll!

Do you use social media more often than you even like?

Is your mobile screen always on during your favorite TV shows, at the dinner table, or late hours at night?

If you do, then stop. Too much of any one of these things can have negative effects. Excessive use of social media such as Facebook, Instagram, can make you feel worse. A study found a correlation between social media use and dissatisfaction. If you also have a habit of checking your social media notifications that it is time to let it go.

Lock your phone before you go to bed. You can even purchase an actual alarm clock.

Overcritical & Negative thinking

Are you over-critical of yourself?

Does your mind race with negative thoughts and harsh self-judgments?

Research continues to show that your thoughts about yourself strongly affect how you feel. The best way to change any negative feelings you may have is to counteract them with a positive one. According to psychologist Patricia Harteneck, when we perceive our life negatively, we may end up viewing experiences in a way that confirms that notion. Instead, practice using words that promote feelings of self-worth and personal power. Therefore, instead of reminding yourself of your blunders, use positive words filled with self-compassion.

Thinking you cannot change for the better

Do you often feel that you cannot change?

Are you worried about the negative habits that are set in stone for you?

Accepting who you are is healthy only when you ignore negative habits that you cannot change. We are not always set in stone as we are always changing. Our opinions, beliefs, habits, and actions can change for the better. Researchers suggest that seemingly permanent parts of your personality indeed be changed. In a 2017 article, Psychological Bulletin, reviewers found that therapy could cause a change in an individual’s personality within 4 to 8 weeks.

Emotional stability was the primary trait domain showing changes because of therapy followed by extraversion. So, when you think all hope is lost or feel disappointed by yourself, know that positive change can happen.

Never exercising

Exercising is not only important for our physical health but also our mental well-being. Pair this with a good diet and you are in for even happier results. Regular exercises releases endorphins, which make us happy naturally. As per Mayo Clinic, exercises can release feel-good endorphins, natural cannabis-like brain chemicals, endogenous cannabinoids, and other natural brain chemicals that can enhance your sense of well-being. We will not only be happy and have better blood flow to our brain but can also boost proteins that will help to grow the neural connections in our brains.

Hence, bring your yoga mat, sweat in workouts, or take a dance class.

 Always arguing with your siblings

Are you guys always arguing with your siblings?

It is best to resolve your issues sooner rather than nagging them for longer hours or days or at least make it a habit to not let things unnecessarily escalate. Journal Psychiatry found that males are at a higher risk of depression if they have poor relationships with their siblings.

A teenager is more likely to show depressive symptoms like anxiety and low self-esteem. Their frequent arguments with their siblings fall into two categories. This includes violations of personal domain or conflicts over fairness and equality.

Foot Reveals Lineage, Ancestry!!

While you may be arguing with your brother or sister about who gets the last slice of pizza, it is best to hash it out and come to a compromise.
