The Supreme Court on Wednesday has directed the police in all states to upload FIRs on official websites within 24 hours to protect the interests of the accused people and their families, according to a report.

A Bench comprising Justice Dipak Misra and C Nagappan also clarified that FIRs for terror, insurgency and sexual offences would not get published. As per reports this order will come into effect from November 15, 2016.
The Bench also clarified that the list of exempted offences was only illustrative, not exhaustive. The Supreme Court’s Wednesday order is on the lines of the 2010 Delhi directive.
