According to reports, Supreme Court has allowed an alleged rape survivor to terminate her 24 – week pregnancy due to an abnormal foetus.
The apex court cited the report, which was submitted by a Mumbai based hospital and said that the continuance of the pregnancy can gravely endanger life of the mother.

The panel also added that foetus is suffering with lot of abnormalities with no skull and liver and this could be dangerous for the mother.
In fact, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi also clarified to the apex court that the current law of 1971 of Pregnancy termination in 20 weeks does not apply, if there is a fatal risk to the mother.
