However, Singh, observers believe, that he would use the opportunity to take on Pakistan over the Kashmir issue and further proclaim the trouble in the valley as one of the India’s internal matter, a claim strongly made earlier by the foreign minister Sushma Swaraj.

The home minister is one the first high-level Indian official who has been visiting Pakistan since PM Modi’s surprise visit to Lahore earlier last December.

Moreover, Singh’s arrival was also preceded by protests in Islamabad’s Faizabad area and Murree Road, with the Hurriyat Conference, which had organised the rally, blaming that India is responsible for the unrest in Kashmir.

Later, the members of civil society and some other religious parties, while displaying banners and placards, and gathered outside the hotel where the home minister is staying. They also chanted anti-India slogans over the killing of Burhan Wani and the ongoing unrest which ensued in the region.
