Priestess cleans the temple premise after Dalit woman performs pooja

Caste Descrimination has always been prevelent in India and now yet another case appears in the same light.

The village authorities in Kanpur alleged that the temple authorities cleansed the temple premise with Gangajal, after a Dalit woman offered prayers.

The incident took place on Friday, when Sunita Devi along with other village women went to the Chaturbhuj Temple to offer prayers.

Sunita said that as soon as they went to the temple the authorities closed the gates of the temple.

They said that the gates will not open as they are Dalits, but later they allowed.

“As we finished performing the prayers, one of the authority member threw the prasad in the pond and started sprinkling Gangajal all over the temple,” sunita added.

Other ladies who went with her to the temple reported that it happened most of the time with them.

However, the Kanpur Additional SP termed the reports as false and said that the women went to perform the pooja when the temple was closed.

Babita, the priestess of the temple, who has been accused denied all the allegations and said that the temple closes at 12 while the women came at 1, first I denied but upon their insistence I allowed. Following the rules of the temple is my work.
