Huawei’s business in the Indian market is flourishing because of its good relationships with carrier partners


The Chinese company Huawei has said that Indian market is really promising for their company . It sees India as a “very important and promising emerging market” with numerous business opportunities for handset and telecom network businesses.

The firm’s rotating co-chief executive officer, Ken Hu on Thursday said that Huawei’s business in the Indian market is flourishing because of its good relationships with various carrier partners.

The top executive said that going forward in the same way, India would soon see a considerable swell in the number of telecom subscribers and an expansion in its mobile broadband coverage, which will significantly push up the prevailing data traffic. “From the mobile broadband point of view, India is a promising market” said Ken Hu, one of the firm’s three rotating chief executives.

Ken Hu has urged several industry stakeholders such as regulators, telcos, equipment manufactures, and application or content developers to collectively develop a “very favourable digital ecosystem” to accelerate the development of mobile broadband.

Huawei is making big in India’s fast growing smartphone market, and it is looking to tap the nation’s youth with easily affordable handsets. “India has large population and there is a large network of young generation from a demographic point of view, therefore we ought to provide support from our terminal business,” he said.

In the last 20 months, the company has taken various initiatives to expand its business in India. It also tied itself to the ‘Make in India’ campaign.

It had earlier launched a research and development (R&D) campus in Bengaluru with an initial investment of $170 million, followed by an investment of Rs 136 crore towards setting up of its largest Global Service Centre in the city in February this year.
