Highlights from AAP government’s budget

Today Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia presented budget and surprised everyone by some of his announcements that can benefit all co0mmon man.

The Delhi government has decided to increase the budget allocation of municipal corporations of Delhi by Rs. 1,000 crore.

Notably, last year it was Rs. 5, 908 crore. Later it was increased to Rs. 5,999. And this year the government has decided to increase it to Rs. 6, 919 crore.

Here are the highlights from the speech:

  • Hotels charging Rs. 1500 or above will be applicable to pay luxury tax
  • VAT on footwear and school bags have been reduced to 5 percent from 12.5 percent
  • A skywalk will be constructed to connect Qutub Minar  with the metro station, it will boost tourism
  • Subsidy in electricity bill will continue, 10 crore for tourism sector and will also organize Delhi Festival
  • Roads will be cleaned with Vaccum cleaner to control the dust pollution. Rs. 100 crore is set aside for it
  • 100 new Mohalla Clinics would be inaugurated
  • They will promote sports facilities in schools
