‘Dahi Handi’ strung up at 49 feet in Thane

Entire country today is celebrating the festival of Janmashtmi. And on this beautiful day which marks the birth of Lord Krishna we would like to wish our viewers a very happy janmashtmi.

In Mumbai suburb Thane, a “Dahi Handi” has been strung up at 49 feet this morning, more than double the height allowed by the Supreme Court yesterday.

Avinash Jadhav, the man who is organizing Janamashtmi celebrations here is clear he takes his orders only from his boss Raj Thackeray, chief of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena or MNS.

And on the other hand Mr Thackeray has told workers of his party that the festival, which celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, will be observed today “the way it’s meant to be.”

Mr Jadhav was quoted saying that “The Supreme Court cannot dictate how we will celebrate our festivals. If I have broken the law then I am willing to go to jail for this.”

Mr Thackeray is expected to visit Thane this evening for the dahi handi . The height of dahi handi in Thane is more than double the height allowed by the Supreme Court.
