Bihar becomes second state to pass GST

Bihar Assembly on Tuesday ratified the GST Bill after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar highlighted its benefits and became the second state to pass GST after Assam.

According to report, while speaking in the assembly, Kumar said there are lots of benefits of the GST. He also said that his party was always in the favour of GST and conveyed this to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley during a recent meeting with him.

Notably, Bihar is also the first non –NDA government to pass the GST Bill. The constitution (122nd Amendment )Bill, 2014 on GST has been already passed by Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and now it needs to get ratified by atleast 15 states out of 29 to become the act. The government has set a deadline of April , 2017 for its rollout.
