19 February marked the 368th birthday of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. So this occasion, we decided to bring to you some interesting facts about the great ruler.
• Shivaji was born in Sivneri Fort in Junnar , which is 100 km east of Mumbai, what is been believed.
• He was one of the secular rulers, who had sizable number of Muslims in his army.
• He is called ‘Father of Navy’; he was a strategic commander and was clever enough. He was the one, who established a navy to
protect the coastline, when no other ruler thought of it.
• He protected women as no one under his rule was allowed to harm women.
• He captured his first fort Torna at a young age of 16.
