West Bengal Government serves notice to 125 schools for promoting religious intolerance
According to a report, West Bengal Government has served notice to 125 schools for allegedly promoting religious intolerance. As per Education Minister Partha Chatterjee, out of them, 96 schools doesn’t even have a certificate from the government.
He further added, a website of the RSS claims the organization is running 300 schools in the state. 125 of these were listed by the Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee.
Notably, the minister informed that this is the first phase of investigation. They are identifying those schools and if they are teaching on the lines of religious doctrines, they will definitely stopped.
He further added, “This is a genuine complaint and the school department is inquiring into the charges against those schools.” He mentioned that 5 schools have permission from the previous government but 96 schools are running without required permission. The minister also confirmed that notices have been already sent.
What is Religious Intolerance?
It is important to understand the meaning of Religious Intolerance. Religious intolerance means against another’s beliefs or practices. But for a bright future and peace society, it is very important to preach religious tolerance, especially among children.
Notably, the accusations on the schools are very serious and it might end with the closure of the schools. It has been reported that state education minister Partha Chatterjee has been handed a list by Mamta Banerjee containing the name.
